What Are Cookies

A cookie is a file containing a unique identifier (an alphanumeric string) that is sent by a web server to a web browser, and then stored by the browser. The unique identifier is then sent back to the server every time the browser requests a page from the server. We sites use cookies to identity and track users as they navigate different pages on a website, and to identify users returning to a website, generally to offer an improved customer experience. Cookies may either be “persistent” or “session” cookies. A persistent cookie is a text file sent by a web server to a web browser, which will be stored by the browser and will remain valid until its set expiry date (unless deleted by the user first). A session cookie will expire at the end of the user session, when the web browser is closed.

Third Party Cookies

We use Google Analytics which is one of the most common and trusted website analytics solution available. It helps us to understand how customers use the site and gives us insights into ways that we can improve the experience. The cookies used for Google Analytics may track things such as how long customers spend on the site and the pages that they visit. We also use conversion tracking cookies. We use these from several third parties including Google Adwords, Feed Optimise and Facebook. As a marketplace it is very important for us to understand statistics about how many of our visitors make a purchase and to analyse which products they are buying, as a result these are the bits of data that these cookies will track. This helps us to optimise our marketing spend to ensure we can build a successful business and continue to bring you the best possible products.
